CDC EPIC Webinar: Flu, RSV, COVID -19 and Other Respiratory Threats - Nov 29, 2022
CDC Webinar
Join the CDC for their next EPIC webinar, Flu, RSV, COVID-19 and other Respiratory Threats. Many respiratory viruses circulate year-round in the United States, with more activity in fall and winter. Right now, the U.S. is experiencing levels of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza (flu), and rhinovirus/enterovirus (RV/EV) that are higher than usual for this time of year, especially among children. COVID-19 also continues to circulate across the United States. CDC experts will discuss what CDC is seeing nationwide with these viruses, who’s at higher risk for severe illness, what people can do to protect themselves, their families, and other people around them, and how to care for people who do get sick. 2022-2023 Seasonal Influenza Testing and Treatment During the COVID-19 Pandemic - Nov 15, 2022
COCA Call
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted influenza activity during the past two seasons. Since October 2022, influenza activity has increased, signaling an early start to the U.S. influenza season. While it is not possible to predict influenza activity or the severity of the upcoming influenza season in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is preparing for co-circulation of influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses. While annual influenza vaccination remains the best way to prevent influenza, antiviral medications are an essential addition to vaccination—especially in treating outpatients with suspected or confirmed influenza, people at high risk for influenza complications, those with progressive disease, and hospitalized influenza patients. During this COCA Call, the presenter will provide an overview of CDC’s recommendations for healthcare providers about influenza diagnostics and the use of antiviral medications for the 2022-2023 influenza season, including considerations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Reporting
For COVID-19 Long-Term Care Guidance And Support:
How To Report COVID-19 Cases To CDPH:
Both individual lab-confirmed cases and clusters are reportable conditions. Providers must report all positive cases into INEDSS or, if your facility does not have access to INEDSS, via the COVID-19 Online Case Report Form (a confidential online survey powered by IDPH REDCap).
All facilities must submit a weekly COVID-19 Facility Summary Report, capturing all known residents and staff with confirmed COVID-19 infections to date along with any currently symptomatic residents or staff. Additionally, facilities that are conducting in-house antigen testing and do not yet have the ability to report individual-level antigen results (positive, negative, and inconclusive) to IDPH or NHSN must submit a weekly COVID-19 Antigen Test Result Report to CDPH. Both reports are due on Thursdays by 12 p.m. and can be submitted using the CDPH Facility Summary Report Upload Site.
We also ask that any potential reinfections (e.g., new positive results >90 days after the original infection) be reported through the optional SARS-CoV-2 Reinfection Case Investigation Form.
